You Need Help
Bi a ko ba reni fehin ti, Bi ole la ri (When there is no one to rely on, It’s like we are lazy)
You Need Help
You need help,
Maybe I need more help than you do
Maybe we all need help.
A woman who wishes to give birth and bear children needs help.
The process of pregnancy and baby delivery typically reminds us of how much help she needs.
Even if she doesn’t want to carry her pregnancy herself, She needs help.
If she is going to carry this pregnancy herself, she can only achieve this by having some form of “interaction” with the “male resources” and then to the labour. (this in itself is another level of help that she needs)
I am writing to you this time to understand that you shouldn’t be thinking about how you will achieve your goals on your own.
You need to start featuring people in your life.
You need people. Maybe Quality people sha.
You should never be silent about what you are doing and what you want to achieve in this life, If you are silent, you might not scale as much as you would want to.
What you need to do is to discover people or resources that you need to scale.
As an undergraduate student living in the university-provided accommodation in Ile-Ife, I remembered many days when we all in the room were hungry and we had nothing to eat. (This usually happen when we are close to the examination period)
At least this period is supposedly the most critical time as a student in a semester and lack of foodstuffs is usually rampant during these times because we are close to the end of the semester.
These times are the period of less pride, ego, arrogance and buga.
Majority of students this time are usually humble, as they require different help of different kinds. Some need medical help because the rate at which people fall sick at this period goes on the surge while some people need food provision and then academic help.
An attempt to work in isolation at this point in time is dangerous in my opinion.
At this point, You just need some form of help, some people even seek spiritual help as they are found at different religious gatherings seeking the face of God regarding their examinations and all.
As members of my room, we will leverage on our individual capacity and collaborate by donating different food ingredients for a family size large pot feast. Some people have the foodstuff but do not have time to cook the food. Let’s say they don’t even know how to cook and they don’t have money to patronize the restaurant at that time.
Here we have another person who has the “time” but has nothing to cook and another person with some other food ingredients but no time to cook the food. We survived those days by understanding and identifying our individual strengths and collaborated.
We knew that we needed each other.
We embraced each other
We had a goal and we have something to achieve, to provide food for us all in the room so that we can focus on the important deal of the period which is our examination.
In the case of preparing for my examinations, I had a group of smart and intelligent colleagues and classmates whom we depend on each other to prepare for examinations. We would divide the course curriculum of the semester and ask members of the group to go and do extensive study and to teach us. We would practice past questions together and ask for their opinion on how they will attack and tackle these questions during exams. This is usually a high-level relief for me as I prepare for my examinations.
Stop blocking out people in what you are doing.
You need all the help and support that you can get.
I encourage you to recognize and discover people or resources that you need to scale.
The question you have right now is after recognizing the people and resources you need, How Do You Ask For Help?
